Today I am coming with very easy-to-prepare snack. At the same time it is very healthy and beneficial for baby weight loss too!
I always say: eat your fruits in the first half of the day or before your workout because it contains carbs (fuel for your muscles ready to work). These carbs need to have a chance to be burned by your body otherwise they will be stored as fat. Afternoon or evening might be too late if you don’t plan any activity.
But this snack could be potentially the exception of this “rule”. It is because it has slightly more protein than carbohydrates which is always better to eat in the second half of the day.
Greek yogurt if chosen nonfat (for example Fage) provides a lot of protein and very low amount of carbs and no fat. Nonfat greek yogurt is also the source of calcium important for your bones.
In addition, Fage nonfat greek yogurt contains very simple ingredients, almost no processing, all natural which means very healthy and good for you and your baby. Check with your pediatrician when you can feed your baby by dairy products – we did from one year of age.
Strawberries has only a little bit of carbohydrates and almost no fat. They are excellent source of vitamin C and a good source of manganese.
Your kids might love it as much as mine (the older 2 year old). She is crazy about strawberries even if I hide them to the greek yogurt. It is some kind of game for her to find the berries.
That is why I love this quick healthy snack.
One more tip – if it’s too plain for you just replace nonfat greek yogurt by siggi’s high protein yogurt. It has more carbs, but still a lot of protein and no fat. Taste is better (sweeter).
